R4 - Brandon Park

With everything to play for in most race categories, the final round of the Whyte Winter Series was shaping up to be a real humdinger. The venue for round 4 was the ever-popular Brandon Park, the same venue as round 1 but with a completely different course. Despite attracting the ‘flattest’ course in the country tag, Thetford still proves to be one of the hardest races on the circuit as the ‘pulsating’ terrain coupled with miles of fast flowing singletrack plus a few killer drags, gives you no room for recovery and rest. It’s a constant all or nothing course that many riders certainly found out in the course of their respective races. After the last outing where the whole day was virtually submerged due to the high level of rain, plus recent snow falls all eyes were once more fixed to weather forecasts. This is winter still, but to be able to ride under crisp blue skies soaking in some classic Thetford lines, all in the name of racing, well you just can’t beat it, especially when you know there’s a hot cuppa and a bacon buttie waiting for you at the end!
