“It’s certainly been a captivating series with more ups and downs than a two humped camel and more water, seemingly, than a punt round Venice. Welcome to Soggy Bottom, it certainly has lived up to its name! This weekend saw the culmination of the 4 round series and as per usual there was everything to play for , with many of the categories still wide open. After the last round where the rain gods of every faith had mischievously joined forces which combined with two incredibly deceptive river crossings made it one of the toughest course Soggies have seen. The scene was set for a real war of attrition! Fortunately everyone came away unscathed..

Fast forward a few more weeks and the scene couldn’t be more different. Soothing blue skies, a huge grinning sun that nearly made us believe that the fabled spring was just round the corner and even a few shoots of green could be glimpsed as the hundreds of riders who keenly turned out whizzed on by. As March began on a high, high pressure bring this much welcomed break in the gloomy winter grind, the final round was looking positively glowing. A cheeky little number, chasing kilometres of sweet singletrack strung effortlessly around the valleys sides and as the river looked unusually low 2 of the infamous river crossings were put in just for good measure....”
