D2D

6 years on and D2D is now a major player in the enduro calendar, starting all those years ago to show what can be done with grass roots racing, it’s now a much loved event.

Big round of applause to Paul & Frank who put together this fabulous event ( not forgetting the Team Porkpie boys who helped too). Their attention to detail and commitment to the sport over commercialism means D2D has that nice warm fuzzy feeling about it, even at the dead of night when its freezing!

For many its a great weekend of catching up with friends, drinking beer and hot tea and coffee, making new friends and saying goodbye to friends who you probably won’t see until you’re in a field riding and camping sometime next year. It’s a strange feeling, D2D usually marks the end of a long enduro season, though now there are many more, you just have to be extra tough to wanna do those in the depth of winter, but for most now is the time to hang up those enduro wheels, place the minty arse lard back on the shelf and enjoy some winter training ready to get stuck in next year.

Thanks to Tony & Tony for getting those teas, thanks to Elaine for the homemade flapjack at the finish and thanks to the kind man who bought me a much needed hot chocolate when I was fading fast!

Oh and that’s another thing... it never rains at D2D...probably one of the many reasons why I love it so much.
